Director, Public Affairs

About Us
Point Made PR is a full-service public relations and public affairs in based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. We specialize in strategic media placement, social media, and grassroots advocacy campaigns that drive measurable impact. We deliver superior strategy, crisp execution, and a distinctive approach to issue management for corporations, trade associations, and advocacy clients. Annually, we secure the publication of more articles than any other public affairs firm.

The Role
We’re seeking a Public Affairs Director to help us lead high-impact campaigns and content. The ideal candidate is a sharp, fast writer with deep experience in political communications and editorial/op-ed writing. Experience in grassroots coalition building and mobilization is a plus but not required.

What You’ll Do

  • Translate client priorities into compelling media narratives that align with the current news cycle.

  • Provide strategic counsel on message, timing, and placement—thinking like an editor to anticipate what will land.

  • Work across diverse subject areas and with a range of subject-matter experts that span varying ideologies.

  • Being willing to pitch subject-matter experts and grassroots leaders by phone and email for coalition campaigns is a plus but not required.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven excellence in writing and editing for media (clips or writing samples required).

  • Strong news judgment and the ability to generate creative hooks tied to “news of the day.”

  • Ability to write quickly and clearly under deadline across varied policy areas.

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

  • Experience with coalition building/mobilization is a plus but not required.

Perks and Benefits

  • Extremely flexible work schedule and environment — we value results and creativity over rigid work hours.

  • Telecommuting flexibility (fully remote job)

  • Competitive salary with performance-based growth opportunities.

Compensation
$100,000–$160,000, depending on experience level. In addition to full-time work, we will consider part-time, retainer, and freelance arrangements for proven professionals looking for added flexibility.

How to Apply

Grassroots Director

About Us
Point Made PR is a full-service public relations and public affairs in based in the Washington, D.C. metro area. We specialize in strategic media placement, social media, and grassroots advocacy campaigns that drive measurable impact. We design and execute high-impact campaigns that shape public opinion, build coalitions, and drive meaningful policy outcomes for corporations, trade associations, and advocacy clients. Annually, we secure the publication of more articles than any other public affairs firm.

The Role
We’re seeking a Grassroots Director to help lead our coalition and mobilization efforts. The ideal candidate is an outgoing communicator who’s comfortable making phone calls and sending outreach emails to recruit individuals, organizations, and subject-matter experts to join our campaigns. You’ll play a key role in growing and energizing the voices behind our clients’ initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Conduct outreach by phone and email to recruit participants for political communications and issue advocacy campaigns.

  • Follow up with interested parties and maintain organized tracking of contacts and progress.

  • Use provided prospect lists and leads to build relationships — and bonus points if you can help identify new ones.

  • Work closely with our communications and public affairs teams to align grassroots outreach with broader media and messaging strategies.

  • Assist with drafting outreach messages, coalition sign-on letters, and occasional media materials.

What You’ll Bring

  • Strong communication skills — confident, personable, and professional on the phone and in writing.

  • A proactive, results-driven attitude with the ability to stay organized while managing multiple outreach lists.

  • Interest in public affairs, politics, or advocacy communications.

  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Perks and Benefits

  • Extremely flexible work schedule and environment — results matter more than where or when you work.

  • Telecommuting flexibility (fully remote role).

Compensation
Negotiable and commensurate with experience level. In addition to full-time work, we will consider part-time, retainer, and freelance arrangements for proven professionals looking for added flexibility.

How to Apply
Please email your resume, cover letter, and any relevant outreach or political communications experience to hiring@pointmadepr.com with the subject line “Grassroots Director – [Your Name].”
